Moog announces Sirin synthesizer

MOOG MUSIC DEBUTS LIMITED EDITION SYNTHESIZER AT LA POP UP
Sound has the power to evoke feelings and images, translating energy from one level of reality to another. Musical experience brings us into contact with these transpersonal realities through the intelligent organization of sound waves. Artistry is in fact the art of translation.ABOUT SIRIN
Sirin is a limited-edition synthesizer module created in celebration of the Moog House of Electronicus Pop-up experience. Based on the legendary Moog Taurus sound engine, and presented in the familiar compact form of the Moog Minitaur–Sirin is the first instrument in Moog’s Taurus family of bass synthesizers designed to generate pitches far above above middle C, with an extended frequency range that reaches notes up to D8. Connect Sirin directly to any MIDI-note controller and immediately access a portable world of powerful analog sound, or hook up to a computer via USB to explore even deeper layers of sound design, where every parameter can be manipulated, automated, and recalled using Sirin’s dedicated Editor Librarian Software (free download for PC and Mac).Secured in a brushed stainless steel enclosure with a retro-inspired color palette, Sirin is an intoxicating conjuror of both quintessential leads and menacing Moog bass. Sirin’s fully-recallable analog sound engine originates with two analog Taurus Bass oscillators that have been re-engineered to soar octaves beyond the traditional boundaries of its mythical ancestors. Sirin’s harmonic transmissions are dynamically shaped and sculpted by a classic Moog Ladder filter operating in consummate harmony with two lightning-fast ADSR envelopes and a multi-wave LFO, offering a wide spectrum of expressive timbral variety and versatility.Sirin integrates seamlessly with modern computer-based production environments via its dedicated Editor Librarian software (available as a free download for registered Sirin owners)–manage patches, automate parameters, unlock 6 additional LFO waveforms, engage Hard Sync, load up to 128 presets into Sirin, access full ADSR envelopes and more as you explore the vast magical realms of analog synthesis.A limited production run of 2500 Sirin are being produced by the employee-owners at the Moog Factory in Asheville, NC–after which no more will be available.Sirin will officially debut at the Moog House of Electronicus Pop-Up in LA’s historic Chinatown. During the week of Jan 24 – 30, Sirin will be available for purchase exclusively at www.mooghouseofelectronicus.com (US only) and on site at the Moog House Of Electronicus Pop-up (712 N Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, 1/24/19-1/30/19), after which, the remaining synthesizers will be distributed world-wide.SIGHT & SOUND
In this video from Moog Music, Nick Sanborn (Sylvan Esso, Made Of Oak) explores the power of sound using Sirin and DFAM analog synthesizers. Sanborn weaves multiplexed patterns of sound waves–translating the thoughts and feelings of the collective individual into a shared musical experience. With the exception of the DFAM’s percussive analog backbeat, all sounds in this video come from Sirin. Nick Sanborn uses the free downloadable Sirin Editor Librarian software to automate and recall parameter settings as he layers multiple monophonic tracks from Sirin.Sirin is now shipping and all orders placed through the House of Electronicus website will ship within 5-7 business days of order.ABOUT THE MOOG HOUSE OF ELECTRONICUS
The Moog House of Electronicus is a synth-guided exploration of the power of sound, inspired by the Moog Island Of Electronicus; an experimental gathering that took place on the barrier island of Tierre Verde during the 1970s. After Moog missionary David Van Koevering was presented with a vision in a dream, the Island of Electronicus became manifest–a synthesized celebration of peace and love; an electronic happening designed to unite mind, body, and soul in a creative explosion of thought and feeling. Today, the Moog House Of Electronicus continues this legacy by inviting all to trust their curiosity, express their innermost selves, and share in the vast creative force of the collective individual. The Moog House of Electronicus Pop-up is open to the public daily from 12pm – 8pm, Thursday, January 24th – Wednesday, January 30th. Visitors will have the opportunity to get hands on with Moog synths (including Sirin and the new polyphonic Moog One synthesizer), as well as explore the deeper dimensions of sonic experience through interactive sculptural synthesis installations, an immersive audio visualization system, and daily synthesizer workshops led by synthesist Bana Haffar. Workshop space is limited–those in the LA area can sign up at here to reserve a space.

New IK multi-media iloud reference monitor mtm

IK Multimedia unveils iLoud MTM reference monitor

Compact monitor with high-end design re-invents nearfield monitoring
for professional and home studios

iLoud MTM - Image

The NAMM Show, January 23, 2019 – IK Multimedia debuts iLoud® MTM, a compact, no-compromise, reference monitor designed to deliver pristine sound and an unprecedented level of accuracy that redefines nearfield monitoring for the modern, computer-based, professional and home studio.

When IK’s earlier monitor system, the iLoud Micro Monitors, launched in 2016, producers and engineers at every level marveled at the performance coming from such a small setup, so IK challenged its design team to push this concept even further and create a new compact design with a sound quality that would rival monitors several times the price and provide innovative features not found anywhere else.

iLoud MTM offers an ultra-flat frequency response, but more importantly, a truly linear phase response as well – a premiere feature in this price segment available only on a handful of products costing considerably more – to provide natural, true-to-life sound. This is achieved through IK’s advanced DSP expertise that also provides for digital crossovers and self-calibration derived from IK’s award-winning ARC™ System. This enables iLoud MTM monitors to deliver unsurpassed accuracy, clarity and transparency, with a generous 100W RMS power and a class-defying 40 Hz to 24 kHz frequency response. In addition, the symmetrical MTM design provides superior imaging and precision, even at close distances, with a perfectly perfect sweet-spot, thanks to the included tilt-able isolation bases. This enables users to create mixes that will translate across multiple playback systems, with no ear fatigue.

Building upon IK’s acclaimed iLoud Micro Monitors, this new compact monitor delivers the accuracy and bass response of larger monitors, and superior audio quality when listening at close distances. This makes iLoud MTM the ideal monitor for nearfield work and a workhorse monitor for desktop use in a home or project studio.

Reference-class, ultra-linear response
The primary role of any studio monitor is to deliver accurate, uncolored sound for easier mixing decisions that will translate across multiple playback systems. iLoud MTM uses the most advanced DSP techniques to provide total control of the speaker’s performance, delivering results simply not obtainable with traditional analog designs. Highs are neutral and defined, mids and lows are clear and as balanced as ever. Users can mix for hours with no ear fatigue, and their work will translate better than ever.

And of course it’s loud, with 100W RMS total power per speaker and 103dB SPL maximum sound pressure, delivering the exceptional volume the iLoud brand is known for.

Digitally-controlled for precision audio
iLoud MTM uses audiophile-grade, high resolution algorithms and top-of-the line A/D converters to carefully manage cross-overs, filtering, time alignment, equalization, dynamics control and auto-calibration. Totally DSP-controlled and precision time-aligned, iLoud MTM also manages the off-axis response to minimize the effects of room reverberation. The advanced onboard processing is the product of IK’s over twenty years of experience in digital signal processing, helping iLoud MTM deliver sound far beyond anything in its size or class.

Extended low-end that rivals larger systems
iLoud Micro Monitor surprised the world with bass performance delivered from a 3″ speaker that “defied physics.” iLoud MTM offers even more, with bass response down to a surprising 40Hz, ideal for modern music styles.

iLoud MTM also debuts IK’s new patent-pending Physical Response Linearization (PRL™) system that uses a precise model of the enclosure’s design, construction and materials, combined with electro-mechanical measurements of the real units, to correct the system’s performance in real time. The result is a stunningly “firm,” balanced and defined low end, to surpass the sound of speakers even twice iLoud MTM’s size.

A new phase in precision sound reproduction
The great majority of conventional studio monitors – even high-end designs – suffer from skewed phase response caused by traditional, phase-shifting crossovers and driver/enclosure phase alterations. The end result is an unfocused stereo image, blurry transients, and overall lack of detail.

iLoud MTM leverages IK’s two decades of DSP experience to offer a true phase coherent response across the useful frequency spectrum, for unbelievably realistic, natural sound. Users will hear instruments and dialogue as if they were happening live, discover more detail in their tracks than ever before, and avoid wasting hours trying to EQ away issues that were never there. This linear phase response is rarely found in speakers even several times iLoud MTM’s price.

Symmetrical design for superior imaging and precision
iLoud MTM uses a midrange-tweeter-midrange symmetrical design, with a pair of 3.5″ high performance woofers and one 1″ high definition tweeter, which provide ultra-precise, defined, point-source sound that simply can’t be achieved by traditional 2-way systems at close distances.

The result is a more natural, life-like sound that minimizes the ear fatigue caused by traditional 2- or 3-way designs where different frequencies arrive at the listener’s ears at different times, so users can mix longer with less effort.

iLoud MTM’s design also offers exceptional sound dispersion, enhancing the transparency and neutrality. The controlled dispersion minimizes the impact of room acoustics, for even truer monitoring. The end result is faster, easier mixing with better results. On top of that, this innovative design keeps the monitor dimensions to a minimum (30 to 50% smaller than comparable monitors), to fit in even the smallest spaces.

Instantly adjust to the acoustic environment
Today’s studios range from dedicated, acoustically-treated spaces to a spare bedroom. To help optimize the monitoring for any room’s particular acoustics, iLoud MTM monitors feature built-in acoustic auto-calibration derived from IK’s award winning ARC™ System, with IK’s reference ARC™ microphone included, to automatically adjust the frequency response to their positioning. Users simply set up the monitors, place the mic in the preferred listening position, and press a button to instantly provide custom calibration for the specific listening environment. iLoud MTM also offers a low-frequency extension control and low and high-frequency trim controls to adjust the response to suit individual tastes.

Always get the perfect angle
iLoud MTM includes a tilting mount that not only helps isolate it, but also adjusts from 0° to 20° for correct positioning in a wide range of setups. That’s higher than most other “tilting” monitors that too often can’t actually reach the required angle for desktop or other close-listening setups. To cover the full spectrum of installation options, a rubber base for horizontal shelf-placement, and a bottom thread to mount conveniently on mic stands, are also included.

Combined with its symmetrical design and phase-coherent response, iLoud MTM allows for ultra-focused, accurate monitoring anywhere.

Price and availability
iLoud MTM will be available in Q2, 2019 at a MSRP of €349.99* each.

Eventide Rose stomp box fx pedal announced

Eventide introduces the Rose stomp box effects pedal:

A bouquet of sounds

Pre-order Rose for your pedal board or studio

Little Ferry, NJ, USA – Jan 23, 2019 – Eventide Audio is pleased to announce a new and unique guitar and bass effects pedal to be presented at Winter NAMM 2019: The Rose. Rose sounds and behaves differently than all other stomp box pedals currently on the market; rather than effects running on a DSP chip, Rose is a simple, pristine, super-modulated, digital delay line (DDL) combined with all-analog circuitry bred for mixing, filtering and feedback. This novel design allows Rose to deliver sounds that both awe and inspire. Sounds that range from lush to experimental – allowing for the musician to create a wide spectrum of unprecedented tones for the stage and in the studio. Eventide’s Rose pedal is now available for pre-order from your favorite music reseller or directly from EventideAudio.com at $349.

A Rose Unlike Any Other…

The Eventide Rose is an intuitive modulated delay in an attractive, small footprint. It has all the precision and flexibility of digital delay with the beauty of analog warmth and feel.

“Rose has the beauty of bucket brigade delay with none of its limitations. It’s the culmination of five years of R&D harkening back to the 1745 DDL, the original Digital Delay Line. Rose is our first stompbox to exploit this new/old way to ‘do’ delay. There is no digital signal processing as such. Just a long, pristine, swept delay. Analog circuitry does the rest.”

Anthony Agnello, Eventide’s Managing Director

The Rose sounds inherently different because of its unusual design. The delay is derived from a variable digital clock that can be swept over a range of ~200kHz for maximum fidelity with up to 10 seconds of delay, down to ~8kHz for 50 seconds of delay. All of Rose’s analog circuitry is employed for mixing, filtering and feedback.

With five modulation sources, three bypass types, five presets, a fully assignable Hotswitch, phase inverse, reverse delay, delay multiplier, MIDI TRS/Expression/Auxiliary Input, an endless garden of possibility abounds.

Features:

  • 6 tactile knobs (mix, feedback, depth, delay, filter, rate)
  • Invert phase and reverse delay
  • Delay Multiplier
  • Assignable Hot switch: (tap tempo, delay repeat, mod hold, mod reset, A/B)

Erica synths and game-changer audio team up

Plasma drive module
NAMM 2019: Erica Synths and Gamechanger Audio Collaborate on Erica Fusion Series module
Erica Synths has announced a new collaboration with fellow Latvian company, Gamechanger Audio (www.gamechangeraudio.com), resulting in a new Erica Synths eurorack module: Plasma Drive. Gamechanger Audio, which is well known for their Plasma Pedal, is committed to exploring the uncharted territories of music electronics and creating devices that provide real value — while stretching the imagination of both musicians and engineers. With their Plasma Pedal they managed to combine Tesla coil with plenty of Rock and Roll. The result is one of the worlds ‘heaviest sounds’ with plenty of unique features and the potential to become the new standard of distortion.Similar to Plasma Pedal, Erica Synths’ Plasma Drive provides you with a new and previously unexplored method of achieving signal clipping in 16HP. Instead of using LED circuits, transistors or vacuum tubes to produce overdrive, the Plasma Drive boosts audio signal to 3000V and transforms it into a series of continuous high-voltage discharges in a xenon-filled tube. In essence – you are playing a lightning bolt of electricity, and the electrical discharges produced by your instrument are instantly converted back into an analogue audio signal — producing a quick, responsive, and extremely heavy distortion with tons of unique character.
The eurorack module Plasma Drive brings sounds of the Plasma Pedal to the next level. As per eurorack standards, Erica Synths has added CV control over distortion level and dry/wet mix, as well as octave up and 1 and 2 octaves down tracking oscillators that add even more harmonics to the original signal. Tracking oscillators can be switched on/off manually or via trigger signals. The Plasma Drive module is powered via conventional eurorack PSU ribbon cable and the power consumption is around 150mA.
