A compact, easy to use, easy to build and great sounding distortion module which will also work as a VCA if desired.

The Optodist is based on two Advanced Photonix (formerly known as Silonex) optocouplers that gives its characterful overdriven sound and plucky dynamic response to CV, it is equally at home adding a bit of extra crisp to highs and mids or warming up your lows as it is turning a resonant filter into a howling beast or your drums into crushing carnage.

Arturia Beatstep Unlocks the Hidden Sub37 in the Moog Sub Phatty

The Arturia BeatStep is a wonderful little midi controller and Sequencer.

When I first purchased it I had the intentions of using it as both a nice little sequencer for my analog synths and other gear.  I also had considered using it as a dedicated controller for my Moog Sub Phatty. Why you ask? Well the Sub Phatty has a plethora of hidden features that must be reached by complicated button presses from the from panel or a VST editor. With the Arturia BeatStep I am able to control all of those functions with direct hands on control just as you can on the Moog Sub37.  In recent videos I have seen people wowed by the Sub37’s wonderful looping envelopes. I often here people wishing for those envelopes on their Sub Phatty… little do they know they already have them! yes thats right the Sub Phatty has those same envelopes just hidden!

I spent some time looking into the Moog Sub Phatty Manual and found all of the Hidden Function MIDI CC#’s and then mapped them directly to a template on the Arturia BeatStep… you can download it here —> Beatstep Template for Sub Phatty Hidden Controls

How to Scratch like a DJ on Maschine

This set up will allow you to closely emulate the actions of a turntable and crossfader.

steps –
1) get a scratch sample duplicate to 4 pads in a square
2) set poly to 1 for all pads in the group
3) reverse the 2nd pad and the 3rd pad
4) Set the start point for the reversed pads to that you get a quicker start
5) select all pads
6) set choke group for pads

now you can (with all pads selected) adjust the tune and all the pads tunings will adjust together
this will allow you to emulate scratching forward and reverse like a turntable. Enable auto write to record your pattern

Animodule V9a Eurorack CV controlled sequencer and waveshapper

It’s a wonderful bit of kit that takes your waveforms and turns them into sequencing steps and rhythmic patterns!

V9a

Here’s a powerful animal to add to your sequencing arsenal.

Send your CV to the CV In. As the Voltage increases the sequence steps forward. As the voltage decreases the sequence steps back.
Scale and adjust your input voltage to taste with the Onboard Attenuator and Offset.

Control the Output CV with an individual Potentiometer for each step.

When a step changes, a 10MS trigger is sent to it’s corresponding switch. If the latching switch is depressed it allows the trigger to pass to the Trigger Out.

There is a switch per step for slew (portamento/slide).
and a Potentiometer to control the Slew Amount.
There is also an input to allow gated control of when the slew turns on and off which will work in conjunction with the switches.

This module is looking for 0V to +5V. The Offset is 0V to +5V.

To allow for chaining of the V9a and rests, 0V will put you under the sequencer range and +5V will put you over the sequencer range.
When the sequence drops below step 1 or over step 9, 0V will be sent to the CV Out and No Trigger will be sent to the Trig Out.
When step 1 or 9 is activated a trigger will be sent to the Trig buss.

Max Current Draw:
+12V = 40mA
-12V = 11mA

Width: 14HP Depth: 39mm
