Let’s face it, couldn’t we ALL use a little more length?
This Tiny (yet powerful) Module allows you to manipulate your gate length and delay your event triggers with ease and minimal impact on your HP.
Take an incoming Signal above ~1.1V (OpAmp Comparators on the Inputs make very forgiving Clock Inputs)
and shrink it down to 5MS or lengthen it up to 5 Seconds.
That Gate will appear at the Gate Out. Continue reading →
The Synthrotek Triple Response Dual VCA uses high quality op amps to give you the sound quality you are looking for in affordable kits and completed units. This VCA has three different response curves per channel: 2 Exponential and 1 Linear. The amplitude of EX2 (switch at right position) can be slightly attenuated via 1 trimmer pot per channel on the PCB. This allows for 3 different curves per channel. EX2 has a slightly more exponential curve than EX1. This VCA operates at 0-5V; a 5V CV input will give you 5V point to point audio output. Use over 5V if you want a super ballsy, loud VCA!
Intended for AC and audio use only (DC coupling will not function properly).
Features include:
– ~5V peak to peak output with a +5 DC CV input
– 2 exponential and 1 linear response per channel
– Channel 2 is normalled to channel 1
– Compact 4HP sized module
– Kits, complete and PCB/panel combos
– High Quality Op Amps
– Module depth: 1 7/8 inches (4.7 cm)
– Max current draw: 1mA on -12V rail, 9mA on +12V rail
Here is the live build event where I build the resistor section of the VCA and hold a Q&A during it. It is a quite long video as it was held off the cuff, very laid back.
New Eurorack manufacturer Evaton Technologies has introduced a very original idea to the eurorack community! This module is a shortwave radio that has CV input for tuning. what does that mean to the synth user? Well for starters it means on the fly happy accidents unexpected timbers and strange sounds galore! This module can also pick up EMI sounds from computers and other electronics.
The RF Nomad adds the squealy, squelchy, noisy, unpredictable vintage sounds of shortwave radio to your modular. But this is no ordinary shortwave; it’s been designed to be extra noisy, extra squealy, extra gritty, and just downright nasty. No built-in output filtering means that a rich spectrum of harmonic content is available on the audio output jack. Audio levels can be driven to distortion. CV control lets you add your own creative spin on sound design.
Hissy interstation audio. Squealy heterodynes. Fading stations. Atmospheric noises. Faint voices in foreign languages from distant broadcast stations. Fire and brimstone. It’s all in there, just like your granddad’s old tabletop shortwave.
But, the RF Nomad adds a twist: The tuning is voltage controlled. Sure, when you were a kid, you discovered you could make spacy noises on Papa’s shortwave by slowly turning the tuning dial. But just how fast could you twist that dial? Faster than an audio-rate LFO? Hardly. Voltage controlled tuning means that the RF Nomad will let you explore sounds you never imagined you could get out of a shortwave receiver.
Here is a new Module from Eurorack Module maker Animodule.
This is the Triple Exclusive Or “XXX_OR”
It is essentially a logic module that takes up to 6 inputs and combine them to shape the Analog outputs (3) and Gate outputs (3) into interesting sounds and CV. each input is Buffered to the next along with a slight overdrive so each output can get you more shaping. There are so many ways to use this I am needing to do a few videos. (Ring Mod, FM sourcing, Distortion just to name a few)
Here are two DIY or build them yourself modules for Eurorack. first up is the Tabula Rasa an Arduino based wavetable oscillator that lets you create new waveforms, dump them to SD card and use them in your Eurorack modular. Then we have the Spring reverb from Music Thing which is a voltage controlled spring reverb hooked to a real spring tai. it also has the option of being built with a digital brick reverb tank as well.
Animodule is a small Eurorack and MU format analog synthesizer module maker. Based out of Pennsylvania, they create hand built analog masterpieces that shake houses and dominate mixes. The Lil Monster VCO is a hand built Triangle core OTA based oscillator with HUGE pulse width modulation and excellent features such as sync, and exponential / linear FM. It’s calibrated for 1v per octave so it will work with most standard analog synths. The Circuit board is etched using a C&C machine so these are not some mass market hunks of junk. These modules are built to last and really feel well built. the knobs have a strong sturdy placement the pots are not wiggly it just feels like someone actually put care into what they were making. Respect it.
Take a listen to its intense sound in this short video here and stay tuned for more articles featuring this manufacturer.
